Prof. Hugh MacIsaac

Canada Research Chair in Aquatic Invasive Species, University of Windsor, Canada; Professor, Yunnan University, China

Hugh is a professor and senior Canada Research Chair in Aquatic Invasive Species at the University of Windsor, and professor at Yunnan University, China. Hugh has worked on invasive species since 1990, beginning his work with the novel zebra mussel in the Great Lakes.

Between 2006 and 2015 Hugh directed the Canadian Aquatic Invasive Species Network (CAISN). He has advised the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and Transport Canada, and worked with both the Office of the Auditor General in Canada and U.S. National Academy of Sciences in the USA on federal government policies.

He has published more than 250 papers on topics ranging from predicting invasive species distributions and impacts to genetic composition and evolution in invasive species.
