Gordon currently holds academic affiliations with Bournemouth University in England, Trent University in Canada and the University of Łódź in Poland. After a decade lecturing at the University of Hertfordshire in England, Gordon joined Cefas in 2002 to lead research on the environmental biology of non-native freshwater fishes under both current and future climate conditions and in the development of risk analysis schemes.
