The 23rd International Conference on Aquatic Invasive Species was held May 12 – 16, 2024 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. It featured:
- A pre-conference webinar: Why equity, diversity, and inclusion are necessary for successful invasive species management.
- A program specific to students and early career professionals, including a student oral and poster presentation competition.
- Daily plenary presentations covering innovative approaches to AIS from seven esteemed international scientists addressing AIS research and management from their areas of expertise.
- A two-day workshop involving presentations and panel discussions on the Future of ballast water management.
- 35 concurrent sessions involving 161 oral presentations.
- A poster session with 36 poster presentations.
- Networking opportunities, including the ICAIS 2024 special event at the historic Alexander Keith’s Brewery.
- A special session on The spread of non-native species in a changing world: climate and vector change.
- A panel discussion on Organisms in Trade: Novel Communications and Adaptations.
- A sharing circle with Indigenous and non-Indigenous colleagues sharing their knowledge about AIS.
- A post-conference scientific field trip to the Aquatron Laboratory at Dalhousie University.
