There are two organized pre-conference tours on Sunday, October 22. You can register for these optional tours online when you complete your conference registration.
Option 1: Everglades National Park ($50)
Option 2: Biscayne National Park ($100)
8:00 AM – Depart Marriott Coral Springs Hotel
Upon arrival at the park you will have some time to go to the Visitor’s Center and explore the Boardwalk and Jetty areas around the Visitor’s Center. The Biscayne National Park guided Boca Chita Key boat tour will depart from the Dante Fascell Visitor Center at 10:00 am. Boat tours feature the Miami-Dade Parks’ Pelican Skipper, a comfortable riding, ADA accessible, 45-foot power catamaran. Tours are guided by Biscayne National Park or Biscayne National Park Institute staff. Visitors may enjoy the beautiful scenery while learning about the history, wildlife and ecosystems of the park. Each tour lasts approximately three hours and includes opportunities to explore Boca Chita Key and the iconic lighthouse. Following the boat tour, a Fishery & Wildlife Biologist on-staff at the park is coordinating a special Lionfish discussion and dissection for our ICAIS participants. Alternatively you get in the water and snorkel in the seagrass meadows near the park headquarters before departing the park at 2:30pm.
Registration Fee: The fee for both tours includes round-trip transportation, boxed sandwich lunch and entrance fee.
Refund Policy: Requests for pre-conference tour registration refunds will be honored if written notification of cancellation is received by the Office of Conferences and Institutes no later than September 8, 2017.
